Ledge Tours
NERN’s new “Ledge Tours” program was created to fulfill the public’s continued interest in learning about the Niagara Escarpment. Each year, NERN’s Steering Committee selects four to five locations/topics for guided tours which expose the participant to one or more of the very unique aspects of the Niagara Escarpment corridor. A number of expert volunteers are secured to lead the tours and share their knowledge and perspective with participants.
Small fees may apply for these tours, but they are typically FREE for paid NERN members. Pre-registration is also required so that the group size remains manageable.
Past Tours Held in 2011 Include:
- March, 2011 – Calumet County Park (geology & geotourism)
- May, 2011 – Washington Island Adventure (geology, land protection & food production)
- July, 2011 – Karst Pasture Walk (groundwater contamination, grazing, and farm management)
- November, 2011 – Wequiock Falls & Bayshore County Park: The Geology of Brown County with Dr. John Luczaj, UW-Green Bay.
New tours coming soon!
